How can you tell if the eyeshadow you're buying is sheer or not?
There's two kinds of eyeshadows: powder and the kind that's like lip gloss. Which ones are sheer?How can you tell if the eyeshadow you're buying is sheer or not?
I think you mean matte or shimmer. Mattes have no mica in the so they have no shimmery effect when the light hits the eye. They tend to be more opaque and provide a more solid color but how sheer the shadow is would depend upon the color and application rather than the presence of mica. I do however think you mean shimmers. You should have no problems recognizing them just hold them to the light and see if you see some reflecting light hitting the mica. The best ones to get from the Perfection brand is the Crease and Smudge and the Jumbo %26amp; Angle Eyeshadow. They're labled so it's not hard to find! Hope this helps.
i use my finger and cotton buds and find it does the job fine. my daughter who is studying to be a make up artist goes mad tho lol.

There are tones of eyeshadows that can be depoted, if you aren't sure about brands just look up depot eyeshadow on youtube. I have an ELF make up palette which holds ELF, MAC makeup eyeshadows amongst others. I now want to press my own eye shadows however, I need the pans. There is a seller on Ebay however, its bid only and i prefer to Buy it now becuase I'm never aorund wehn the bidding ends (i work long hard hours lol)

it depends what quality makeup you want. if you know what brand you want, look on the internet for coupons. then, if it's something you can find at walmart, target, or walgreens, they're pretty cheap. if you want good mineral makeup for cheap, get some Jane Iredale makeup at www.agelessapple.com

Sally's has pretty cheap eyeshadow. They have some for 99 cents there. Walmart has cheap eyeshadow ,too. You can get the I Love My Eyes brand from there and that's only about 1-2 buckaroos. Alot of other brands from there are cheap ,too
Ulta sells really great eyeshadow for not alot of money.
And they sell whole boxes of it for cheap too.
They always have some sort of special like those, ';buy this and get this free'; sort of promotions.

I use ulta brand . Ulta is a company thats carries all sorts of make up brands and I use there brand eyeshadows. There about 6.50 each but I got them when it was BOGO. The shades are gorgeous and they last all day. Hope this helped !

Get the pallete...they are great...you save money...the individual ones are way more expensive even thought they come with a lot of product...but the pallete has soooo many colors!!! and you will never use up all the individuals and eventually you'd have to trash it...not with the pallette...you probably will be able to ue it all up!!!! If yes, please tell me if it's good or not! I just went and spent $45 on some eyeshadow and it's not what it seemed like out at the store. I've seen lots of girls using the 120 eyeshadow palette on youtube and you can purchase them on ebay, they are shipped from HONG KONG, please tell me if they are good. The reason I ask is I am planning on going to New York for my birthday.. and I want to buy a Pro palette and pan eye shadows. But, the date that we're going in is on a Sunday. Now according to one of my favorite YouTube gurus, Elle (Allthatglitters21), in her New York Haul video she talks about how she tries to go to MAC Pro, but it was a Sunday, and it was closed.
So basically my point is, if I cannot get the palette and pan shadows on that Sunday, I will change the date! Ugh.. story of a MAC junkie. ;)

Yes, you can buy it at MAC stores; I know because the salesperson offered it to me. They are not sold at MAC counters meaning in Nordstrom, Macy's or whatever department stores in your area that carry MAC. That's what the best answerer is saying in question #1, which is correct. the palettes are listed on the regular MAC website, not just on MAC PRO. this makes me think that they are sold at ALL freestanding stores. it wouldn't make sense for them to be on the website if they are a pro store only item. you can get the refil pans from any MAC store as well :)construction loans

I'm no expert on makeup, but I guess it depends on the environment you'll be going to or the style effect you want to give out to people. Here are some examples: You're going out to nightclubs/bars/dinner you'll want to use darker eyeshadows because it compliments the low lighting of the night and it also makes your eyes more seductive and sexy looking, from your other question thread you mentioned you were half greek, greek's have a olive tanned skintone, so colours like greens and gold really stand out and blend well with your skintone. If you're going out for the day, you don't want to use dark eyesahdows because it'll make you're eyes look tired, instead pick lighter colours to really brighten up your eyes. I have dark hair and yellow/golden toned skin too, what I like to do is pick an eyeshadow that's close to my skintone with shimmer in it for daytime use, so it enhances your natural eyes and give it that extra sparkle. There really is no best colour for different coloured eyes in my opinion, it just depends on what you're wearing, where you going to, the effect you want others to see you (innocent/seductive/smart/fun) etc as general rule for tanned/olive skintones with dark hair and dark eyes, greens, browns, plum purples and gold will go well in most occasions. In my experience, stay away from collections 2000 pallets, it may be cheap but you really have to put on loads to see anything. Why not try brands like bourjois and m.a.c?UK Can you suggest any colours, makes of eyeshadow for me to buy?

Barry M Dazzle Dusts in: 83 (a bluey green), 20 (a cinderella dress sort of colour) and 29 (a yellowy gold). They're 拢4.50 each, and really cute pots of loose powder
Sleek 12 colour eyeshadow palettes in: Well, I can't remember the name, but it's got 12 nice shimmery colours, it's a pressed powder and comes with an okay sponge applicator, it's like 拢6 I think
Bourjois Little Round Pots: These are a little more expensive, but really good. Turquoise ensoleill茅e and gris paillett茅 are my favourite shades. They're 拢6.25 each I think

Urban Decay makes two. Heat and Gash are the colors. If you have a Sephora nearby (check your local JC penney's since sephora is opening mini-stores in them) for the Urban Decay line.
If you can't find a true red then buy some red lipstick and use it like a cream shadow. Powder over top to get it to stick.
Another option is to find Kryolan or Ben Nye. Open the yellow pages and look for theatre makeup or theatrical supplies. Stage makeup companies almost always have a red.

What eyeshadow should a beginner buy?
I just started wearing makeup and I want to know what eyeshadows I should buy. I was in the store the other day and I didn't know where to start! There were soooo many different colors and shades. I want something that can go with almost anything and looks natural, since I'm a beginner. Also, I have noooo idea how to use those ones that have 4 colors in the pack and it says like ';lid, crease, blah blah.'; Do you like blend those all together? Lol. Oh, and what's the best eye primer so the eyeshadow doesn't crease? Help!What eyeshadow should a beginner buy?
because your a beginner you could get a white eyeshadow, arent too strong and make your eyes appear bigger :-) you could also get some beigey tones or light browns, maybe even getting a palette with colors next time you step into the store, and see what you prefer with your eye color, that way you get plenty of colors to work with and you can experiment too.
as for the packed eyeshadows, if you look at the back it tells you where to apply each of the shadows, and basically you follow that guideline, and it should be fine like that, however some people find that the colours dont look to well if they arent blended together properly so you can blend them by lightly using a q-tip or buying a blending brush (many companies have them, e.l.f. has them for really cheap :-])
i like the red earth eye primer, its in a cute compact packaging and works really well :-)

It does not matter as long as you blend it in with your skin. Like if you are pail, then I would suggest that you buy some light colors. If your skin is dark than try some dark eyeshadow.
The ones that contain four colors, the same goes for them. Always choose by your skin complection. No you are not supposed to blend them all in you are supposed to make a choice lol hope everything looks great :D
Pick the colors closest to your skin color. Your going to make mistakes anyway, but match to your eye colors and hair, then dress to match for that day. Its very important to start simple and learn the art as you mature. Keep a good self image and accept what flaws your face might have. You cannot ever hide them for the fact that too much will scare those away and you only want to accent. Not cover. Have fun with it and enjoy.

They tend to be more opaque and provide a more solid color but how sheer the shadow is would depend upon the color and application rather than the presence of mica. I do however think you mean shimmers. You should have no problems recognizing them just hold them to the light and see if you see some reflecting light hitting the mica. Creme shadows usually show up quite well, but then again, so do matte powders. Read the above response about powders, but usually higher brand makeup tends to show up more opaque- whereas cheaper makeup will be quite sheer. You can use a primer (i recommend urban decay primer potion) to bring out the colour in sheerer shadows and make them last longer.

Read the above response about powders, but usually higher brand makeup tends to show up more opaque- whereas cheaper makeup will be quite sheer. You can use a primer (i recommend urban decay primer potion) to bring out the colour in sheerer shadows and make them last longer.

it's called a sponge-tip applicator and it can be used to apply eyeshadow. however i wouldn't recommend using it. the thing about sponges is they absorb things, and so using them wastes your eye-shadows because they soak up all the color and you run out of eyeshadow quicker. also i find that it's very difficult to blend using these applicators, so i end up with not-so-attractive harsh lines.
using a brush would be the most preferable approach, and there are alternatives to buying expensive brushes, try looking at coastalscents.com they have a really nice range of brushes that are great quality and quite affordable. you could also look around your local craft stores to see if you can find any good quality paint brushes. leow cornell is a painting brand which makes many brushes that are comparable to mac brushes for a fraction of the price you would be paying at a mac store.

Well it's usually called a sponge applicator or a flocked sponge. You can use it to apply all types of eyeshadow, but you'll get a less precise finish as it can be a bit clumsy. I have a full set of brushes, and more on the way, but you can get away with your foam applicator and one straight edged or round edged firm flat eyeshadow brush. You can get one for as little as 拢2 in Superdrug, then just keep it clean. I have a youtube channel but I'm just starting out, so it's not got a great many vides. Check it out, but also link to my favourites. As a beginner, you should look at panacea81, and Xsparkage. Nireyna is amazing, but you are unlikely to be able to imitate her at the moment, and she has astounding products too.

well, I get mine at Fred meyers or target. Im not sure what brand but mine came with 60 colors. Look for Christmas sale items. They tend to be good quality, at some stores. Mac does a great job if you have a Nordstrom nearby. Ask someone at the mall. The ladies at the beauty stands should know.

Im from California and we have a makeup discount store over here that sells MAC eyeshadow at $10 i think compared to $14.50 i believe it is.

I did a search on Yahoo for '88 eyeshadow palette' and these results from eBay came up. Be careful with eBay though as some of the items have been used before and I read somewhere that you shouldn't share eye makeup. But good luck anyway!

go to eby and type in 120 pro palette they are really cheap around about 16 quid for 120 eyeshadows they are quite good some of them are really pigmented while others are more sheer but you really cant beat that price for 120 eyshadows and they are all really nice colours

The contour color is meant for the part of your eye that is the crease and blend it down into your lid and outer corner. Use the contour shade from around the middle of your eye and to the outer corner. It simply adds definition to your eye.

I would try Maybelline products, CVS or Walgreens has a great selections. Also, e.l.f. has a good selections of natural makeup and its very very cheap. Like $1 Cheap, you can probably order alot of things on line for the price of 1-2 things at any drugstore. I highly recommend,

Any high pigmented cosmetic line should have it. From affordable HIP cosmetics to expensive MAC cosmetics. I'd suggest trying MAC if you can afford it. I don't use MAC, but if you want bright pigmentation, try it. Best of luck, doll.

I wanted to know if anyone here can give me an idea of what or whom to stay away from or possibly give me the name of a reputable vendor who doesn't sell junk.

All the PRO palettes are pretty much the same, they are manufactured in the same place, then companies buy them and put their own logo on them. Myself, I haven't really dared to buy any makeup off ebay since most of the sellers are in China and Hong Kong, so I ordered mine from Coastal Scents. You'll have to pay a couple of dollars more but then at least you know that it's coming from a reputable seller that uses a secure server, and they have great customer support and an online forum where you can ask questions and share tips with other makeup junkies. They will replace your purchase if it arrives damaged and you know you're getting the real thing.
I love my pallets from there, I have the 88 matte, 28 neutral and 26 eye/blush combo. The color payoff is almost as good as my MAC shadows and they have great staying power. The 88 ones are a little small, about dime size, but with the intense pigmentation they'll still last you a long time. I use mine all the time.
Again, these PRO palettes are the only ones I'd buy from ebay, so much of the luxury brands there are fake. But again, I'd rather pay a couple bucks more and know that my purchase will arrive safely and in a timely manner. Good luck with your purchase!Has anyone bought eyeshadow palettes on Ebay?

Otherwise there are lots of sites online - either uder individual manufacturers like Rimmel or MAx factor. There are also sites like Make up for less that have a whole range of items. Also, L'oreal's new HIP line has multi colored ones. The prices range from $3- 9, depending on the brand. Hope you find what you're looking for.

I would try Physician's Formula eyeshadow, it is multi-colored and it is great makeup. You can find it at any larger store, like Walmart,Target and even at most drug stores. Depending on where you live it is about $ 8.00 and you get a good amount, it will last a while.
I didnt think you could, surely it woudl all merge to one as you put it on? try bourjois glitter pots, you can get multi coloured/,.
If you go to sephora they have every brand of makeup known to man. If you want really bright colors try Urban Decay they offer just about every color you would ever want, not to mention some you should probably stay away from.
Also MAC eyeshadows are very high pigmented which means they actually show up on your face the way they look in the compact. They can be very bold! They are $12 a piece but a little goes a long way so they should last you. Also if you go to the MAC counter they will help you and let you experiment.
i personally bought my last ones from guerlain. they are 6 colors and can be used both wet and dry, as a shadow or eye-liner. i saw them in a beauty magazine and cos it was expensive i had to save money. it was 57 euro but there are kinds and brands much cheaper. for example maybelline-3 color sets-8 euro, max factor-9.95 euro, loreal- 14.95euro. i hope this helps.

I would try Physician's Formula eyeshadow, it is multi-colored and it is great makeup. You can find it at any larger store, like Walmart,Target and even at most drug stores. Depending on where you live it is about $ 8.00 and you get a good amount, it will last a while.

If you go to sephora they have every brand of makeup known to man. If you want really bright colors try Urban Decay they offer just about every color you would ever want, not to mention some you should probably stay away from.
Also MAC eyeshadows are very high pigmented which means they actually show up on your face the way they look in the compact. They can be very bold! They are $12 a piece but a little goes a long way so they should last you. Also if you go to the MAC counter they will help you and let you experiment.
i personally bought my last ones from guerlain. they are 6 colors and can be used both wet and dry, as a shadow or eye-liner. i saw them in a beauty magazine and cos it was expensive i had to save money. it was 57 euro but there are kinds and brands much cheaper. for example maybelline-3 color sets-8 euro, max factor-9.95 euro, loreal- 14.95euro. i hope this helps.

I love this stuff and I use mostly gold鈥檚 and browns they have a perfect shade that I use it is called Egyptian Sands and comes with three colors. Dark brown, gold, and a lighter brown. It works great and it is only about $3 dollars.
Sephora brand has really nice eyeshadows. Also try M.A.C. or Bare Escentuals.... Those are the best.
My favorite eyeshadow ever is my loose gold powder by Napoleon Perdis (I think it's number 9).
